WASHINGTON, Pa.—The Mount Union men's tennis team defeated Washington and Jefferson 8-1 on the road Thursday.

The Purple Raiders advance to 7-2 on the season after winning four of its five matches in Hilton Head, South Carolina last week.

Mount Union won all but one of the singles matches with Malcolm Leake (Fremont/Fremont Ross) defeating Sean Carrick in the number one spot.

Washington and Jefferson earned their only point of the match winning the number six singles position.

Mount Union swept the Presidents in doubles action with Rob DeMarco (North Canton/Hoover) and Jeff Williams (Cleveland Heights/St. Edward) defeating Carrick and Samuel Miller 8-4 in the number one spot. Leake and Ben Swope (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) defeated Joshua St. Clair and Greg Smith 8-5 in the number two spot while Chris Adamsky (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) and Robert Yeary (Uniontown/Hoover) won the final point rounding out doubles action winning 8-5 in the number three spot.

Mount Union next travels to Franciscan Monday, Mar. 16 at 3:30 pm.
