ALLIANCE, Ohio-- The University of Mount Union men's tennis team fell to the defending Ohio Athletic Conference champions, Otterbein Cardinals in an OAC home opener Saturday, 5-4.
The Purple Raiders move to 8-3, 0-1 OAC, on the season while Otterbein advances to 3-7, 1-0 OAC.
Mount Union was led by Rob DeMarco (North Canton/Hoover) defeating David Seckel, 6-4 and 7-5, in the number two position.
Jeff Williams (Cleveland Heights/St. Edward) earned Mount Union's other singles victory defeating Perry Williams, 6-3 and 6-2, in the number four spot.
In doubles action, the Raiders were paced by Malcolm Leake (Fremont/Fremont Ross) and Jackson Schneider (Oregon, WI/Oregon) who defeated Otterbein, 8-1, in the number two spot.
The Raiders pair of Ben Swope (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Christohper Adamsky (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) took the number three doubles position, 9-7.
Mount Union resumes play at Ohio Northern Saturday, Mar. 28 at 1:00 pm in Ada.
