ALLIANCE, Ohio-- The University of Mount Union men's tennis team fell short, 5-4, in an Ohio Athletic Conference match against Capital Saturday.
The Purple Raiders drop to 11-5 overall (3-3 OAC) as Capital moves to 9-3 and remaining undefeated in the OAC, 3-0.
Mount Union was down an early defecit as the Crusaders swept the doubles matches, 8-5, 8-6 and 8-4.
The Purple Raiders rallied in singles action with Ben Swope (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) defeating CJ Martin in the number three spot (7-5 and 6-2). Jackson Schneider (Oregon, WI/Oregon) earned another point for the Raiders in the number five position outscoring Beau Streety 6-2 and 6-4 making the score 3-2 with four matches left to play.
Christopher Adamsky (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) and Rob DeMarco (North Canton/Hoover) earned the final two points for the Raiders with each match going to a third set. Demarco defeated Dale Booher in the final two (5-7, 6-2 and 6-1) as Adamsky did the same defeating his opponent in the sixth position ((5-7, 6-4 and 6-2).
The Crusaders went on to earn the 5-4 victory.
Mount Union looks to bounce back as the travel to Muskingum for their final away match Wednesday, April 15 at 3:30 pm in New Concord.
