MASON, Ohio -- No. 4 seed Mount Union lost a 5-1 decision to top seeded John Carroll in the semifinals of the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament Friday at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason.
The Purple Raiders end their season at 14-6 while John Carroll (10-11) advances to Saturday's OAC Championship game.
Mount Union scored an early 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles as junior Malcolm Leake (Fremont/Fremont Ross) and Jackson Schneider (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) before John Carroll evened the match with a win at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 1 doubles, sophomores Rob DeMarco (North Canton/Hoover) and Jeff Williams (Cleveland Hts./Lakewood St. Edward) rallied but fell 9-7 to give the Blue Streaks a 2-1 lead.
John Carroll closed out the match with wins a No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6 singles.
