NEW CONCORD, Ohio- Mount Union's women's basketball team defeated Muskingum, 64-61 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday at the Performance Court in New Concord.

Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) had 20 points and Katie Reed (Alliance/Marlington) added 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Purple Raiders, who are now 11-3 overall and 5-2 OAC.

The Muskies (4-10, 0-7 OAC) were led by Mallory Taylor who had a game-high 28 points.

Mount Union raced out to a 12-5 lead to start the game and extended that lead to 27-13 at the end of the first quarter.

Muskingum opened the second quarter on a 17-1 run and took its first lead of the game at 30-28 with 4:44 left in the period.  There would be two ties and two lead changes the rest of the quarter with Muskingum leading 35-32 going into the half.

The second half consisted of nine lead changes and five ties with the Muskies holding a 59-53 lead with three minutes to play.  Mount Union would finish the game on an 11-2 run for the win. Sarah Grippi (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) scored five points during the decisive run.

Mount Union hosts OAC opponent, John Carroll Saturday Jan. 16 at 3:00 p.m.
