ALLIANCE, Ohio -- No. 18 ranked Mount Union used a run late in the first half and another early in the second half to out pace Heidelberg, 104-80 in an Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball game Wednesday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

The Purple Raiders have won seven of their last eight games and are 9-3 overall and at 5-0 in the OAC are tied a top the conference standings with No. 7 John Carroll.

Mount Union had four players in double figures as Jarrett Ruffin (Northfield/Nordonia) scored 17, JJ Kukura (Alliance/Alliance) 16, Cody Dillon (Newton Falls/Newton Falls) 15 and Jake Jacubec (Struthers/Struthers) 13.

Heidelberg got a game-high 20 points from Kiere Bennie as the Berg is now 7-5 overall and 2-3 in the OAC.

Heidelberg ran out to an early five point lead, 13-8, in game's first five minutes, the lead then changed hands three more times over the next nine minutes before the Raiders ended the half on a 16-5 surge to take a 47-35 lead at the half.  Dillon had six points during the run and 11 for the period.

Dillon started Mount Union off with a three in the second half and sparked a 23-5 run to open the half as the Raiders went up 70-40 with 14 minutes left to put the game away.

Mount Union goes back on the road playing an OAC game Saturday at 3 p.m. at Wilmington.
