ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's soccer team broke a three-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over Marietta 1-0 Tuesday in an Ohio Athletic Conference match at Mount Union Stadium.

At the 40-minute mark, freshman Jon Schroeder (Parma/Normandy) put the Purple Raiders on the board after receiving a cross from freshman Josh Lewis (Elyria/Elyria) and placing a header into the back of Marietta's goal.

Marietta attempted to tally a point and tie the game, but the Mount Union defense stood firm, along with senior goalkeeper Dylan Lias(Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls), who recorded five saves and his second shutout of the season.

Mount Union advances to 3-6-3 on the season and 1-3 in conference play, while Marietta falls to 7-6-1 and 2-2 in the OAC.

The Purple Raiders travel to Columbus on Saturday, Oct. 15 for their next game against Capital University, which kicks off at 7 p.m.
