Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's soccer team pushes its unbeaten streak to four games after beating Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Wilmington 3-2 in the team's senior night at Mount Union Stadium Saturday evening.
The Purple Raiders started the scoring early, with sophomore Jake Clark (Chardon/West Geauga) tallying a point at the 3:17 mark.
Wilmington quickly evened the score with a goal by Niklas Martensson in the 10th minute.
The Raiders took the lead again in the 33
rd minute after junior
Jesse Tinney (Heidelberg, Pa./Chartiers Valley) slipped the ball past Wilmington's goalkeeper. Mount Union led 2-1 at the break.
In the 69th minute of play, Wilmington's Martensson tallied his second point of the game, tying the Raiders at two with just over 20 minutes to play.
The score remained 2-2 through regulation and the first overtime period. Mount Union's Tinney fed the ball to senior
Nathan Tirabassi (Hubbard/Hubbard), who placed the ball in the back of Wilmington's net at the 101:36 mark, giving the Raiders the win.
Mount Union advances to 5-6-4 overall and 3-3-1 in the OAC, while Wilmington falls to 4-10-2 on the season and 1-6 in conference play.
The Raiders host John Carroll on Tuesday, Oct. 25th at 7 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
