Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union's volleyball team lost to non-conference opponent #9 Juniata Friday night.
The Purple Raiders (17-8) lost to the Eagles (21-6) in straight sets 25-13, 26-24, 25-20. Mount Union was led by senior Caitlyn Synek (Independence/Independence) who tallied 13 kills and four blocks. Junior Riley Schenk (Lorain/Amherst Steele) led in assists with 18 as sophomore Allison Baird (North Royalton/North Royalton) led the defense with 27 digs.
In set one, the Raiders allowed the Eagles to go on a 7-0 service run and an 8-0 service run as Juniata led the entire first set defeating Mount Union 25-13.
The Eagles went ahead 12-8 until the Raiders came back with a 4-0 service run from Morgan Chapman (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) to tie the frame at 16-16. Four ties occurred in the set as Mount Union
Juniata led 10-6 in the third set but the Raiders came back within three points, 11-8. The Eagles pushed for a six point lead over Mount Union, 16-10 and kept their lead the rest of the way to defeat the Raiders 25-20.
Mount Union hosts Otterbein tomorrow, October 29 for Senior Day at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Conference at 12:00 PM
