TIFFIN, Ohio  - Mount Union's volleyball team lost to Heidelberg Saturday, October 8 in Tiffin, Ohio.

The Purple Raiders (12-6) lost to the Student Princes (13-6) in straight sets 25-19, 25-15, 25-18. Mount Union was led by junior Riley Schenk (Lorain/Amherst Steele) having seven kills, 17 assists and nine digs. Sophomore Kyleigh Jackson (Galloway/Westland) added six kills while sophomore Allison Baird (North Royalton) led in digs with 13.

In set one, the Raiders and the Student Princes started off close with three ties in the beginning. Heidelberg then went on a 4-0 run to take a lead against Mount Union 12-8. The Student Princes kept a two point or more gap between them and the Raiders throughout the first set defeating Mount Union 25-19.

The Student Princes got off to a 5-1 start in the second set. Mount Union came within two points, 6-8 with two kills by Schenk. Heidelberg took a four point lead, until Mount Union came within one, 9-10. The Student Princes kept their small lead throughout the middle of the set, to then go on a 7-2 run leading the Raiders 20-14. Heidelberg went on to win the second 25-15.

In the third set, Heidelberg started off leading Mount Union 4-2. The Raiders took the lead at 9-8 until a kill by the Student Princes and an attack error by Mount Union put Heidelberg back up by one, 10-9. After two ties, an 8-2 run by the Student Princes put them in the lead, 18-11. Heidelberg kept a three or more point lead the rest of the way, defeating Mount Union 25-18.

Heidelberg was led by Sarah Parker with 19 kills.

Mount Union will travel to Marietta Tuesday, October 11 to take on the Pioneers at 7:00 PM.
