Box Score OBERLIN, Ohio - The Mount Union women's basketball team extends its win streak to two games after defeating Oberlin College 67-42 Monday evening.
The Purple Raiders (3-2) were led by sophomore Rachel Tinkey (Canfield/Canfield), who recorded five three-pointers and 17 points overall. Senior Abbey Bartoszewicz (Wexford, Pa./Vincentian Academy) followed with four three-pointers for 12 total points.
Oberlin's (1-4) Cheyenne Arthur led the Yeowomen with six points.
The lead changed three times in the first quarter with Oberlin last leading 8-7 at the 3:33 mark. A three-pointer by Tinkey kicked off an 11-2 run by the Raiders near the end of the quarter, leaving the Yeowomen trailing the Raiders 18-10.
Mount Union held its lead through the second quarter, outscoring Oberlin 19-11. Bartoszewicz recorded three three-pointers while sophomore Anna Alkire (Massillon/Jackson) followed with two, which contributed 15 points of the Raiders' 19 in the period. The Raiders led the Yeowomen 37-21 at the break.
Mount Union led by as many as 27 and as little as 13 points through the remainder of the game. Senior Kelsey Scott (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) took the reins in the third quarter with five points, which came from a layup and a three-pointer. Tinkey took over in the fourth quarter, leading with eight points from two three-pointers and a jump-shot.
The Purple Raiders travel to Wilmington, Ohio on Saturday, Dec. 3 to take on the Wilmington Quakers in the team's first Ohio Athletic Conference matchup of the season. The game tips off at 3 p.m.
