ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's women's basketball team defeated Heidelberg 75-63 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

Katie Reed (Alliance/Marlington) had 20 points while Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) had 19 points to lead the Purple Raiders, who now 16-6 overall and 10-5 in the OAC.Carli Patrick had a game-high 23 points to lead Heidelberg (9-14, 7-9 OAC).  

A back and forth first quarter would result in six lead changes and two ties with Heidelberg leading 18-12 at the end of the period.

Mount Union would turn things around in the second quarter opening the period with a 16-4 run to take a 28-22 lead at the 2:23 mark.  Bova would have nine points and the Raiders outscored Heidelberg, 23-10, in the quarter to lead 35-28 at the break.

The Raiders extended the lead to 17 points as a Reed layup with 1:36 left in the third quarter made the score 53-38.  Heidelberg would score seven straight to close to 53-45 after three quarters.

The Berg would then score five of the of the first seven to close within five points, 55-50, but a Shayna Panchik (Natrona Heights, Pa./St. Joseph) three-pointer would spark a 9-2 Mount Union run and put the Raiders up for good. 

Mount Union hosts Muskingum in the regular season home finale Monday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
