ALLIANCE, Ohio-- The Mount Union men's tennis team earned its fifth consecutive victory with a 6-3 win over Franciscan University in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders, now 8-3, came out of doubles leading 2-1 with Matt Bringman (Strongsville/Strongsville) and Jackson Schneider (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) winning at No.2 doubles and Bryce Payne (Ashville, N.Y./Panama Central) and Kyle Hicken (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) winning in a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Mount Union was able to win four of six courts to secure the victory. Jeff Williams (Cleveland Heights/ Lakewood St. Edward) trailed 2-5 in the first set before coming back to win the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6. He went on to win the match at the No. 2 single position. Hicken earned the fifth point and got the win for the Raiders.

Mount Union is back in action next Friday, Mar. 25, as they open OAC play on the road at Baldwin-Wallace.
