Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Four Purple Raiders scored in double figures as the Mount Union's men's basketball team stayed in first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 90-81 win over Baldwin Wallace Wednesday night at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
Mount Union never trailed in the game, has won four of its last five and stands 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the OAC.
Senior DeAllen Jackson (Akron/Hoban) led the Raiders with 22 points, junior JJ Kukura (Alliance/Alliance) had 15 while season-highs were hit with 17 from freshman Nathan Bower-Malone (Stow/Stow) and 12 from sophomore Andrew Francesconi (Tallmadge/Tallmadge).
Baldwin Wallace (6-6, 1-4 OAC) was led by Cam Kuhn with 22 points.
The Raiders got off to a 15-3 start in the first four minutes of the game. A 7-0 run for Baldwin Wallace brought them within five points, 15-10, with 14 minutes to go in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets got within two points of the Raiders, 23-21 before a three-pointer by Miles Griffin (Massillon/Massillon Jackson) sparked a 7-4 run by Mount Union to keep a four point lead, 30-26.
Baldwin Wallace tied the game up at 32 with five minutes left in the first half. Two more ties occurred until the Raiders went on a 7-3 run to end the half leading the Yellow Jackets 46-42.
Baldwin Wallace came out of the break on a 4-0 run to tie the game at 46. The Raiders answered with a decisive 14-4 run to push their lead to 10, 60-50, with 12:20 to go.
Mount Union led by as many as 13 before taking the nine-point win.
The Raiders are back in action Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. in an OAC game against Ohio Northern at the MAAC.
