Box Score WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Head Coach Mike Fuline earned his 100th win as Mount Union men's basketball team defeated Otterbein in their last regular season game, 73-57, Saturday afternoon.
Mount Union will be the fourth seed and will host the number five seed in the Quarterfinals of the OAC Tournament Tuesday, February 21 at 7:30 PM at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
The Purple Raiders (14-11, 9-9 OAC) were led by Tommy Stenger (North Canton/Hoover) with 17 points and five rebounds. Andrew Francesconi (Tallmadge/Tallmadge) and Jeff Foreman (Mentor/Mentor) each posted 13 points.
Otterbein got 17 from Austin Springer as they fall to 7-18 overall and 3-15 in the OAC.
The Raiders started the first half off strong leading the Cardinals by ten points, 17-10. Otterbein pushed to get within one point of Mount Union, 21-20, with 5:15 remaining until halftime. Three ties occurred in the last five minutes of the half, as the Raiders went into the break up by six points, 33-27.
Mount Union went on a 10-7 run in the early stages of the second half to lead Otterbein by ten, 43-33. The Raiders pulled away, getting their biggest lead of the game by 17 points, 54-37, at the 9:16 mark. Mount Union did not allow Otterbein to get within 10 points of them the rest of the way, as they led by as many as 19.
