Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio- Tommy Stenger (North Canton/Hoover) hit his career high as Mount Union's men's basketball team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Capital, 91-70, Saturday afternoon.
Stenger led the Purple Raiders with 25 points as D'Vontay Friga (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) had a season high of 15 points and six assits. DeAllen Jackson (Akron/Hoban) added 12 points and five assists as Mount Union improves to 12-9 overall and 7-7 in the OAC.
Capital got 14 points from two Crusaders, Austin Schreck and Nate Boone, as they fall to 11-10 overall and 6-8 in the OAC.
The Raiders got off to a 17-3 start in the first five and a half minutes of the game. The Crusaders went on a 7-2 run to get within nine points of the Raiders but Mount Union pushed their lead to 22, 32-10, at the 8:20 minute mark.
Mount Union went into the break leading Capital by 20 points, 55-35, as Stenger led all scorers with 25 points.
The Raiders did not allow the Crusaders to get within 18 points of them in the second half, as Mount Union defeated Capital 91-70.
Mount Union next travels to New Concord, Ohio to take on the Muskingum Fighting Muskies Wednesday, February 9 at 7:00 PM.
