ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union men's tennis team defeated Baldwin Wallace 7-2 in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener Saturday afternoon at Mount Union's Whitehill Tennis Courts.

Mount Union improves to 8-3 overall and 1-0 in OAC play.

Senior Rob DeMarco (North Canton/Hoover) defeated Baldwin Wallace's (9-2, 0-1 OAC) Dominic Polifrone in first position singles to earn a point for the Purple Raiders, while he and junior Jackson Schneider (Oregon, Wisc./Oregon) defeated Polifrone and Matt Harris 8-1 in first position doubles. 

In third position singles, senior Jeff Williams (Cleveland Heights/Lakewood St. Edward) earned a point for the Raiders after beating Baldwin Wallace's Harris in a back-and-forth battle. Williams won the first set 6-2, but Harris fought back to win the second, 6-4. Williams and Harris went into a singles tie-breaker where Williams ultimately beat out his opponent 7-6 to earn the Raiders' a match point.

Mount Union will next host conference opponent Heidelberg on Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m. at Mount Union's Whitehill Tennis Courts.
