It was a slow start for Mount Union as they only got three shots to fall in the first quarter, one of those shots being a three by Rappach at 5:22, which tied the game at five points a piece. Capital was able to get a number of open looks at the basket to take a quick lead over Mount Union of 15-7.

Capital's 5-0 run at the start of the second quarter was stopped by the senior duo of Casey Morrissette (Wakeman/Firelands) and Corie Inverso (Danville/Danville) with back-to-back layups to make it 20-11 at 8:05. Rappach scored her second three-pointer to get within six at 20-14 but Capital was able to pull away as they pushed their lead to 16 at 30-14 with 5:00 left and would stay ahead going into halftime at 44-27.

Sanborn opened the third quarter by scoring the first eight points for Mount Union, breaking down Capital's advantage to 48-35 at 6:27. Another three by Rappach followed by a strong move inside by Tytler would get Mount Union within nine at 49-40 with 3:43 to go. Capital would not let Mount Union get any closer, as they got their lead back to double digits at 55-42 to close out the quarter.

Mount Union got its first visit to the foul line with 5:24 left in the game, but would only get one-of-three to fall. Sanborn remained successful for the Raiders under the basket, as she scored four of Mount Union's eight points with 2:55 remaining. Threes by Rappach and Rachel Tinkey (Canfield/Canfield), followed by a pair of free throws from Morrissette made it 61-55 with 1:30 on the clock and although Mount Union was able to outscore Capital 16-12 in the fourth, Capital came out on top with a final score of 67-58.

Mount Union is next in action on Wednesday, February 7 at 7:30 p.m. as they travel to New Concord, Ohio to play Muskingum.
