MASON, Ohio -- No. 2 seed Mount Union men's tennis defeated No. 3 seed Ohio Northern 5-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals Friday afternoon at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Mount Union entered singles play with a 2-1 lead after doubles. Ohio Northern's lone point came from the pairing of Connor Christian and Jake Abbott who beat Mount Union's Antonio Massucci (Ashtabula/St. John) and Justin Kelley (Uniontown/Lake) in a hard fought 8-4 decision.
Robert Cross (North Canton/Hoover) secured the winning point in singles over Ohio Northern's Vinh Thai with scores of 6-2 and 6-1.
With the loss, Ohio Northern finishes the season with an overall record of 15-9.
The Purple Raiders move to 14-3 overall and will advance to the OAC Tournament finals for the second straight year and face No. 1 John Carroll.
