Box Score 2 ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Mount Union women's volleyball team remains undefeated at 13-0 after defeating Geneseo State (N.Y.) and Fredonia State (N.Y.) Saturday at the Golden Flyer Invitational.
Against Geneseo State (N.Y.), junior middle hitter Marlee Peck (Homeworth/Marlington) carried the offense with a team-high 13 kills. In her first start as a Purple Raider, freshman right side Chase Filicko (Olmsted Falls/Gilmour Academy) was next in line with eight.
Setting the Raiders up for success was junior Carly Stepic (Cleveland/Holy Name) as she had 33 assists in the match.
Mount Union territory was protected by senior libero Allison Baird (North Royalton/North Royalton) and sophomore outside hitter Madelin DiBease (Perry/Perry) as they dug up 22 and 11 balls, respectively.
Peck was back in the 3-1 win over Fredonia State (N.Y.) with 13 kills, leading the Raiders their 13th win. DiBease was also strong on the attack with a total of 11 kills. Most of those kills came off of Stepic, who reached a career-high mark of 39 assists.
At the net, Peck returned once again with a career-high seven blocks. Alongside her was senior middle Kyleigh Jackson (Galloway/Westland) with four.
The defensive specialists covered the floor as junior Megan Donegan (Dublin/Dublin Coffman), Annie Leslein (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) and Baird gathered a total of 52 digs. Baird was ahead of the group with 22, followed by Leslein's 17 and Donegan's 13.
Baird and Peck's performance earned All-Tournament Honors, with Peck being named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
In hopes of continuing their streak, Mount Union returns home to host non-conference opponent Hiram on Tuesday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m.
