Men's Basketball: Raiders Suffer First Loss On the Road

ADRIAN,Mich.--Mount Union's men's basketball team were defeated by Adrian (Mich.) 80-77 Saturday night.

The loss leaves the Purple Raiders at 2-1 overall while Adrian improves to 2-2 overall with the win.

Senior D'Vontay Friga (Cuyahoga Falls) led the Raiders in scoring with 25 points while senior teammate Nathan Bower-Malone (Stow) finished with a team high nine assist.

Adrian was led by Jeremy Kalonji with 31 points and Jordan Harris with 22.

Both teams traded baskets throughout the first half with neither team taking a lead of more than nine with the Mount Union up 42-36 at the end of the half.

Mount Union got the lead up to 10 after back to back Braedon Poole (McDonald) lay ups with 13:42 left.

Adrian chipped away at the lead and took it with 9:14 left with a lay up to go up 61-60.

With the teams battling a Adrian three-pointer with one minute left gave Adrian the lead by 3.

The Raiders had two shots in the final 5 seconds to tie the game but neither shot fell.

Mount Union has a short turnaround as they play tomorrow at Trine (Ind.) Sunday, November 24th at 2 p.m.
