ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's tennis team suffered a narrow 5-4 defeat to Ohio Northern in an Ohio Athletic Conference match Tuesday on the Whitehill Courts on campus.

The Purple Raiders fall to 9-6 overall and 3-3 in the OAC while Ohio Northern stays unbeaten in OAC matches at 5-0 and 11-6 overall.

Mount Union got off to a 2-1 lead with a pair of wins in doubles from Robert Cross (North Canton / Hoover) and Zach Teffner (Cortland / Lakeview) at No. 1 and Jacob Barton (Madison) and Scott Fletcher (Canton / GlenOak) at No. 3.

Ohio Northern then won four of the six singles matches with Raiders almost forced third sets from Cross at No. 1, Teffner at No. 2 and Tyler Tareshawty (Canfield) at No. 6.

Mount Union's two wins came from Antonio Massucci (Ashtabula / St. John) who rallied to win second and third sets at No. 3 and Barton at No. 5.

The Raiders finish the regular season against Baldwin Wallace next Wed., Apr. 24 at 3:30 p.m. in Alliance.
