ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union senior Jon Schroeder (Parma / Normandy) scored on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to lead the Purple Raiders to a 1-0 win over Wooster in the season opener at Mount Union Stadium.

Mount Union senior goalkeeper Zach Hlas (Medina) picked up right where he left off a year ago in getting four saves for the shutout. Hlas had 10 shutouts during the 2018 season.

Mount Union (1-0) outshot Wooster (0-1), 8-7.

The Raiders next play at Case Western Reserve Monday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. in Cleveland.
