ALLIANCE, Ohio—Senior David Schoeppner (North Canton / Hoover) scored the first and second goals of his career to lead No. 19 Mount Union to a 3-1 win over Defiance Saturday night at Mount Union Stadium.

Schoeppner's goals in 38th minute off an assist from Nicholas Fuchs (Columbus / DeSales) turned out to be the game winner and his score in the 82nd minute put the game away as the Purple Raiders are now 4-0-1 on the season.

Sophomore Xavier Pinaya (Monclova / Anthony Wayne) started the scoring for the Purple Raiders in the 32nd minute off an assist from senior Tyler Cooper (Chagrin Falls / Kenston).

Defiance (1-4-1) got its goal in the 60th minute.

Mount Union out-shot Defiance 14-7 while also having seven more corner attempts in the game.

Mount Union next plays Wednesday, September 18 against Geneva (Pa.) at 7 p.m. in Beaver Falls, Pa.
