HIRAM, Ohio - The Mount Union women's volleyball team lost three sets by a total of 13 points to take their second loss of the season, 3-1 (19-25, 25-19, 20-25, 28-30) at Hiram Tuesday night.

The Purple Raiders are now 3-2 on the season while Hiram raises its record to 4-1.

Mount Union was led by junior Madelin DiBease (Perry) with a season-high 19 kills. The majority of DiBease's kills came off of assists from freshman Katie May (Independence) as she totalled a career-high 31 assists.

Present at the net for the Raiders was senior Bethany Matuska (Pickerington / Bishop Hartley) who had three blocks, while freshman Alyssa Kasaris (North Royalton) also defended Mount Union territory with 18 digs.

Mount Union kept the match close right out of the gate keeping the scored tied 3-3 until the Terriers went on a 6-2 run, making the score 9-5. Although they fought hard to regain the lead, they never came back, losing that set 25-19

The Raiders bounced back in the second set, starting off with an 8-2 run and went on to a 25-19 win.

Hiram came out in the third set starting the set off with 17-7 run and Raiders rallied before eventually falling 25-20.

Mount Union wouldn't roll over in the fourth set as there were 12 lead changes and nine ties but eventually Hiram would take the set 30-28 and the match. 

The Raiders next play Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7 at the Penn State-Behrend Tournament in Erie, Pa.
