TIFFIN, Ohio – Mount Union's men's basketball team lost to Heidelberg 68-67 in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon in Tiffin, Ohio.

Mount Union drops to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the OAC with the loss while Heidelberg improves to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in the OAC.

Mount Union was led by senior D'Vontay Friga (Cuyahoga Falls) with 18 points off the bench and sophomore Collen Gurley (Akron / Hoban) with 17 points.

Heidelberg was led by Alex Arellano who scored 22 points and had nine rebounds.

Mount Union and Heidelberg traded buckets early in the game until Friga hit a three pointer to take the lead 6-5. The Purple Raiders had the lead up until the 7:57 mark left in the first half when Heidelberg's Arellano hit two free throws to lead 20-19. The rest of the half saw four lead changes along with two ties with Heidelberg taking a 32-30 lead into halftime.

Heidelberg pushed the lead out to 38-33 with 15:19 left then Mount Union went on a 10-0 run sparked by a three pointer from sophomore Braedon Poole (McDonald) and seven straight points scored by Friga to take the lead 43-38. Heidelberg came back with a run with 8:24 left outscoring the Radiers 14-6 leading 63-56. Mount Union's Gurley had a 7-0 run with les than two minutes to give the Raiders a 67-65 lead. Heidelberg got a three-point play with 29 seconds left. Mount Union had one more shot at a game winning three from Gurley but missed.

Mount Union stays on the road in Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio.
