Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio— The No. 7 ranked Mount Union men's basketball team defeated Otterbein 75-57 in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament Tuesday night at the MAAC.
The Purple Raiders improve to 23-3 overall along with 15-straight victories.
Mount Union got a career-high 31 points from senior D'Vontay Friga (Cuyahoga Falls) and a double digit performance from junior Logan Hill (Massillon / Massillon JAckson) with 10 points..
Mo Beavers scored 23 points to lead Otterbein (8-18).
The Raiders never trailed as they jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the game's first four minutes. Friga scored the next seven points for Mount Union leading 17-7. Mount Union finished the last seven minutes on a 12-3 run leading 36-16 with Friga leading all scorers with 20 in the half.
Mount Union got its largest lead of the night when sophomore Braedon Poole (Mcdonald) made a layup to increase the lead to 43-18. Otterbein got within 11 points with 3:03 left but a Friga basket and then on the inbounds freshman Chris Painter Jr. (Akron / St. Vincent St. Mary's) got a steal and finished an and-one to lead 67-51.
The Raiders advance to the OAC Tournament semifinals and will host a team to be determined with tip-off set for 7 p.m.
