ALLIANCE, Ohio. – The Mount Union women's basketball team picked up a 74-44 victory in Ohio Athletic Conference play over Heidelberg Saturday afternoon at the MAAC.
The Purple Raiders (2-3, 1-1 OAC) were led by juniors
Emma Cannon (Dalton) and
Kelsie Glass (Green) with 14 points each.
Senior
Isi Palamone (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) picked up a double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Heidelberg (1-7, 0-2 OAC) was led by Hallie Rodgers who scored 13.
Mount Union connected on its first five shots to take an early 10-3 lead. The Raiders grabbed their largest lead of the first quarter on a jumper from Cannon to go up 20-7 with 1:44 remining.
The second quarter saw Heidelberg get within nine but Mount Union would score the next five points to push the lead to 14. Mount Union finished the second quarter outscoring Heidelberg by four to take a 38-22 lead into the half.
The Raiders outscored Heidelberg 36-20 in the second half holding Heidelberg to just four points in the third quarter to finish the victory off 77-44.
Mount Union remains home on Wednesday December 8 at 7:00 p.m. to take on John Carroll who is ranked third in the nation.
