ALLIANCE, Ohio – Senior
Kennady Gibbins (Navarre / Fairless) broke her school record in the first meet of the year while the Mount Union track and field team picked up 12 event wins Saturday afternoon at the Mount Union Toy Drive Invite.
Gibbins won the pentathlon with a total of 3,592 points besting her record by 167 points. Last year her total would have put her fifth in the nation.
Junior
Kenadee Wayt (Wheeling, W.V. / Wheeling Central Catholic) won the women's 400-meters in a time of 58.90 leading the Purple Raiders to the top four spots in the race. Wayt also picked up the win in the 200-meters with her temamates finishing with 5 of the top 6 spots.
Leading Mount Union to the top three spots in the men's 400-meters was senior Matt McBride (Conneaut) with a time of 50.51.
Junior
Taylor Cupp (Geneva) bested her teammate senior
Olivia Powers (Norwalk / St. Paul) I the women's 500-meters winning with a time of 1:22.24.
Freshman
Mary Mason (Alliance / Marlington) finished with a 2:19.40 besting the women's 800-meters field by over 11 seconds.
Senior
Montrell DeVaughn (Canton / McKinley) finished first in the 800-meters in a time of 1:56.94 besting junior
Justin Knoch (Canton / GlenOak) by just over a second.
Junior
Kyel Wolff (Cleveland / Cuyahoga Heights) won the men's pole vault with a jump of 16-feet 4.75-inches beating junior
Blaine Kitchen (Tontogany / Ostego) jumping 15-feet 6.75-inches.
Freshman
Natasha Zahursky (Painesville / Riverside) won the women's high jump with a height of 4-feet 11-inches.
Senior
Tanner Slack (New Concord / John Glenn) won the men's high-jump in 6-feet 8-inches
Sophomore
Lauren Roncone (North Canton / Hoover) won the women's long jump with a distance of 18-feet 3.75-inches.
Senior
Brody Coleman (Knox, Pa. / Keystone) finished with a distance of 47-feet 3.5-inches to win the men's triple jump.
The Raiders return to action Friday January 21st at Youngstown State University.
