MARIETTA, Ohio -- Mount Union pushed its win streak to five games with a 74-68 win at Marietta in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Friday at Ban Johnson Arena.

Brianna Gassman (Minerva) had a game-high 16 points and Elena Rauhe (Seven Hills / Parma Padua) poured in 15 as Mount Union survived eight lead changes and five ties to go above .500 for the first time this season at 5-4 overall (5-4 OAC).

The Pioneers shot just 32-percent from the floor as a team as Hannah Schill had 11 points to lead Marietta (5-4 overall, 5-4 OAC)

Mount Union ran out to leads of 12-7, 16-11 and eventually 19-13 on a Layni Ziegler (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Seton LaSalle) free throw with 2:10 left in the first quarter. The Raiders finished the period leading 21-17 as Gassman has six points. Rauhe would hit a layup and a free throw three minutes into the second quarter to give Mount Union a 28-21 lead. The Raiders led 32-28 with five minutes left in the half before the Pioneers went on an 11-5 run to go into halftime with a 39-37 lead.

Gassman hit a pair of layups to spark a 6-0 run to start the third quarter and give the Raiders back the lead, 43-39.  Once again Marietta rallied, this time with a 15-7 surge to retake the lead 54-50 on a Kelly Levering jumper at the 2:11 mark. Mount Union bounced back and scored four of the final five points in the quarter to trail 55-54.

The Raiders retook the lead 56-55 on a Gassman layup to start the fourth quarter and a Katie Clark (Cuyahoga Falls / Walsh Jesuit) gave Mount Union a 63-58 lead with 6:34 to play. A Corenna Maynard (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) steal and layup would give the Raiders their largest lead of the game, 7-1-61, with just over two minutes to go and Mount Union would hold on for the 74-68 victory.

The teams are back at it Saturday night at 6 p.m. in Alliance. Mount Union will honor its three seniors prior to the game -- Gassman, Rauhe and Sarah Turley (Sagamore Hills / Nordonia).
