Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio-- Mount Union men's basketball honored its lone senior Daniel Laut (Salem) Saturday night in a 99-67 win over Muskingum.
Mount Union (8-3, 8-3) was led by a career-high 19 points from sophomore Chris Painter Jr. (Akron / St. Vincent St. Marys).
The Purple Raiders got a double-double from junior Braedon Poole (McDonald) with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Freshman Christian Parker (Canton GlenOak) and junior Collen Gurley (Akron / Hoban) both had double digits with 16 and 11 respectively.
Muskingum (4-8, 4-8) was led by Evan Boatwright with 18 points.
Laut gave the Purple Raiders their first lead of the night 4-3 on a layup which sparked a 23-3 run which saw Painter score nine points. Mount Union grabbed its largest lead on a 15-5 run going up 38-13 with 5:16 remaining in the first half. Mount Union had nine scorers in the first half with Painter leading them with 14 points.
In the second half Muskingum got within 13 twice but a 4:30 stretch and a 15-0 run by Mount Union put the game out of reach leading 73-40 with 12:10 remaining. Mount Union hit it's largerest lead of 36 twice both on Parker made baskets. The Purple Raiders finished with 12 different scorers.
Mount Union enters next week's OAC Tournament playing home Tuesday, Mar. 2 at a time and team to be determined at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
