Box Score BEREA, Ohio – The Mount Union women's basketball team (9-5, 8-4 OAC) dropped to the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin Wallace (10-4, 9-4 OAC) Thursday evening in the Ohio Athletic Conference Semifinals matchup as both teams were kept well under their season averages with a final score of 56-47 in Upsrung Gymnasium.
The Purple Raiders were led by senior duo Elena Rauhe (Seven Hills / Padua Franciscan) had 10 points and seven rebounds to finish her career with 883 total points, and Brianna Gassman (Minerva) who had nine points and three rebounds. Additionally, sophomore Kelsie Glass (Green) had nine points all of which came in the first half and from three-point range, as well as junior Corenna Maynard (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) who went 2-2 from three-point range to secure six points.
Baldwin Wallace was led by Lily Edwards who had 17 points and seven rebounds.
First Half
Baldwin Wallace took advantage of an early 9-2 run to start the game, which got broken up by a three from the top of the key by Glass at 7:38 in the first quarter. Hot pressure on both teams led to a 19-16 score at the end of the first ten minutes of play. The Raiders were outscored 7-0 in the last four minutes of the half to go into halftime down 35-25, their largest deficit of the game.
Second Half
Raiders took advantage of full-court pressure throughout the third quarter as they outscored the Yellow Jackets 15-12. Raiders silence the Yellow Jackets through the first 5:24 of the fourth quarter and were able to cut the deficit to two off an offensive rebound by Rauhe at 5:39 to make the score 47-45. A late three by Baldwin Wallace with under a minute to go helped secure the win and finished with a final score of 56-47.
