ALLIANCE, Ohio - No. 4 seed Mount Union defeated No. 5 seed Capital, 5-1, in the first round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament Tuesday in a match moved inside to Peterson Fieldhouse due to inclement weather.

Mount Union (3-3) advances to the semifinals to take on No. 1 seed John Carroll Friday at 1 p.m. at the Linder Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

Senior Justin Kelley (Uniontown / Lake) led the Purple Raiders as he along with fellow senior Tony Massucci (Ashtabula / St. John's) rallied to win at No. 1 doubles then Kelley closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.

Mount Union swept the doubles matches as the freshman duo of Avery Clouse (Circleville / Logan Elm) and Colton Mace (Laurelville / Logan Elm) got an 8-0 shutout at the No. 2 position for the Raiders first point of the day. Holden Schmid (Copley) and Max Rosedale (Massillon / Massillon Jackson) got an 8-3 at No 3 doubles.

Clouse also scored a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.

Capital (2-5) picked up a point from Graeme Green at No. 1 singles.
