PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Mount Union's men's soccer team scored a 2-0 shutout against Chatham (Pa.) Friday afternoon at UPMC Graham Field.
Freshman
Carter Hancock (Amherst / Steele) netted his first collegiate goal in the 12th minute as the Purple Raiders led 1-0 at the break.
Sophomore
Jamon McCort (Magnolia / Sandy Valley) provided an insurance goal for Mount Union in the 69th minute.
Mount Union out-shot Chatham (1-1-1), 22-4.
Senior
Mikey Contreras (Fremont / Fremont Ross) made his first start of the year in goal and got three saves to pick up the shutout.
The Raiders are now 2-0-1 on the season and the "Purple Wall" defense has held opponents scoreless for the last 206:24 of game action.
Mount Union returns to the pitch Saturday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at Geneva in Beaver Falls, Pa.
