Maria Ellesin (Alliance / Marlington) was voted All-Tournament team MVP and freshman
Darby Leininger (Chardon / Beaumont) voted to the All-Tournament Team led Mount Union women's volleyball team in two 3-0 sweeps Saturday afternoon at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
In the first match Mount Union (4-0) beat Thiel (Pa.) (0-5) 25-12, 25-16 and 25-14. Ellesin and Leininger led the Purple Raiders in kills with 8 each while freshman
Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy) finished with a team high 13 digs.
Junior setters
Mollie Thomas (Massillon / Massillon Perry) and
Katie May (Brecksville / Independence) finished with 20 and 12 assists respectively while junior libero
Alyssa Kasaris (North Royalton) picked up 10 digs in the game.
The second game Mount Union completed the sweep beating Geneseo (N.Y.) (1-3) 25-16, 25-16, 25-20.
Ellesin led with kills again this time with nine kills while Leininger picked up seven kills.
Thomas had 16 assists and digs leading the team in both categories. May picked up 12 assists and Kasaris in the back row picked up 12 digs.

Catherine Klopp (Sycamore / Mohawk) had four blocks in the second match for the Raiders.
Mount Union will continue its home stand with a game Wednesday, September 8, with a match-up against Case Western Reserve at 7 p.m. in the MAAC.
