ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's basketball team was defeated by Ohio Northern 66-54 in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon.

The Purple Raiders (6-10, 3-7 OAC) got 12 points along with eight rebounds from junior
Emma Cannon (Dalton) while senior
Isi Palamone (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) scored 10 points with nine rebounds.

Lexi Jacobs and Alissa Stahler led Ohio Northern (13-4, 7-3 OAC) with 14 points a piece.

Ohio Northern got off to a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game, but Mount Union responded with an 8-2 run to take the lead with 5:56 left in the quarter. Both teams finished out the first period trading baskets to tie at 17.

The second quarter saw the Raiders and Ohio Northern tie three times and have three different lead changes with Northern finishing the half out on a 10-3 run.

Mount Union came out of the half with Cannon hitting two free throws and senior
Corenna Maynard (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) connecting on a three ball to pull within one. Ohio Northern then went on a 22-5 run to open an 18-point lead.

In the fourth quarter junior
Madison Hensley (Blacklick / Gahanna Lincoln) connected on a three-pointer with 3:24 remaining to get within eight, but this being the closest the Raiders could get to Ohio Northern.

The Raiders stay at home to take on #14 ranked Baldwin Wallace in OAC play next Wednesday, February 2 at 7 p.m. at the MAAC.
