Berea, Ohio. – The Mount Union women's basketball team fell in an Ohio Athletic Conference game to No. 17 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace, 70-57, Wednesday night in Berea.
The Purple Raiders (4-6, 1-4 OAC) was led by junior
Emma Cannon (Dalton), who scored 19 points.
Senior
Isi Palamone (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) and freshman
Daveonna Nash (Akron / Buchtel) reached double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Baldwin Wallace (8-2, 5-0 OAC) was led by Lily Edwards scoring 17 points with 15 rebounds
Baldwin Wallace jumped out to a 14-2 lead halfway through the quarter. Mount Union finished the quarter on a 10-5 run with five different Raiders scoring two points each.
In the second quarter Cannon scored eight points as Mount Union went on a 11-4 run to tie the game up at 23 with five minutes left in the quarter. Mount Union took the lead on a free throw from Palamone but Baldwin Wallace finished the quarter on a 5-2 run.
Baldwin Wallace hit four three's in the third quarter outscoring Mount Union 23-13 taking a 51-39 lead into the fourth quarter.
Mount Union could not get within single digits getting outscored 19-18 in the final quarter.
Mount Union will host Capital in OAC play Saturday, January 8th at 2 p.m. in the MAAC.
