WILMINGTON, Ohio—The Mount Union women's volleyball team went 2-0 defeating Wilmington and Mount St. Joseph on Saturday Afternoon at Hermann Court.
The Purple Raiders (19-5, 5-2 OAC) defeated Wilmington (8-17, 1-6) in straight sets 25-21, 25-13 and 25-14.
Sophomore
Darby Leininger (Chardon / Beaumont) led Mount Union with 12 kills while senior
Maria Ellesin (Alliance / Marlington) finished with 11 kills.
Senior
Mollie Thomas (Massillon / Massillon Perry) finished with 25 assists and three aces while sophomore
Alexis Meyer (Avon Lake) finished with six blocks and three aces.
Senior
Alyssa Kasaris (North Royalton) finished with a game-high 20 digs while Thomas finished with 14 total.
Wilmington was led by Bailey Pohlman with six kills, Andie Dolven had 18 assists and Blake O'Brein with 17 digs.
Match two of the day was a rematch from early in the season as Mount Union got the win this time against Mount St. Joseph (19-5, 7-0 HCAC) in five sets with scores of 18-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19 and 15-12.
The Raiders were led by career-highs by Leininger with 20 kills and Thomas with 44 assists.
Ellesin and junior
Maddie Wentz (Broadview Heights / Hoban) finished with 13 and 10 kills in the game.
Meyer along with Ellesin both had 4 blocks each while Meyer picked up two more aces.
Kasaris led five different Raiders to 11 plus digs as she had 24. Thomas finished with 17 while juniors
Katie Guerra (Avon Lake),
Adrian Petrisko (Elyria) and sophomore
Katelyn Lesko (Mineral Ridge) finished with 16, 15 and 11 respectively.
Mount St. Joseph was led by Morgan Whitaker with 12 kills, Sam Buschur and Chloe Burton finished with 20 assists and Erin Androne had 25 digs.
Mount Union stays on the road for OAC play heading to University Heights on Wednesday taking on John Carroll at 7 p.m.
