ALLIANCE, Ohio. – The Mount Union women's track and field team won six events at the Jim Wuske Invitational Saturday afternoon while also dropping the fastest time in NCAA Division III this year so far in the Distance Medley Relay Friday night at Akron.
The Purple Raiders sent a quartet consisting of senior
Brit McCauley (Mansfield / Ontario), juniors
Kenadee Wayt (Wheeling, W. Va. / Wheeling Central Catholic),
Megan Wertz (Canton / GlenOak) and freshman
Mary Mason (Alliance / Marlington) to Akron and finished second overall in a time of 12:20.62.
Senior
Kennady Gibbins (Navarre / Fairless) won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.21 good while senior
Michaelina Terranova finished second overall with a 9.47.
Mason and junior
Micah Donley (Carrollton) led a group of Raiders to the top 5 spots in the 500-meters with Mason winning in a time of 1:19.97.
Donley picked up another second-place finish in the 200-meters with a time of 26.68.
Sophomore
Lauren Roncone (Canton / North Canton) picked up the victory in the long jump with a distance of 17-feet 10.75-inches.
Sophomore
Adriana Russell (Mansfield / Madison) grabbed a victory in the 5,000-meters (18:50.28).
Junior
Brittany Bober (Twinsburg) won the 800-meters in a time of 2:31.13 while teammate sophomore
Leah Costello (Geneva) finished second overall (2:33.02).
In the 400-meters senior
Olivia Powers (Norwalk / St. Paul) raced to a second-place finish (1:02.44).
Freshman
Caitlyn Gatta (Louisville) grabbed second overall in the 1,000-meters with a time of 3:19.24.
In high jump freshman
Natasha Zahursky (Painesville / Riverside) finished second with a leap of 4-feet 10.25-inches.
The Raiders head to Westerville, Oh. Saturday, February 12th to compete in the All-Ohio Championships.
