ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's wrestling team got out to an early lead and tried to rally late before falling to John Carroll, 21-13 in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual Tuesday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
The Purple Raiders are now 4-7 overall and finish the OAC season with a 3-4 record, while John Carroll is 7-2 overall and finishes 6-1 in the OAC.
Mount Union got out to a 6-0 lead with wins from No. 7 ranked
Jack Stanley (Brecksville / Brecksville-Broadview Hts) at 125 and No. 8 ranked
David Massey (Cuyahoga Falls / Woodridge) at 133.
The Raiders pushed the lead to 10-0 with a major decision win from No. 2 ranked
Jordin James (Bedford) at 141 pounds.
John Carroll came back with four-straight wins -- all by three points or less -- to take a 12-10 lead after 174 pounds.
Mount Union's
George Lassnick (Painesville / Lake Catholic) gave the Raiders some life with an 8-7 win at 184 but John Carroll won at 197 and got a forfeit win at 285 for the match.
Massey, James and Lassnick were among 12 seniors honored at their last home event. Others included Matt Berdysz (Perry),

Mount Union closes out the regular season Saturday with a pair of dual matches at Ashland against the host Eagles and Glenville State (W.Va.).
