ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's tennis team blanked Ursuline 9-0 Sunday in the first match of the spring inside Peterson Fieldhouse.

The Purple Raiders (1-2) swept through doubles play with 8-1 wins at the No. 1 position from Abby Franks (Canton / Canton South) and Emma Thornton (Canfield / Youngstown Ursuline) and the No. 2 position of Sydney Scotford (Poland / Poland Seminary) and Jenna Hinkle (Akron / Coventry).

Ursuline (0-2) forfeited No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

In singles play, Mount Union swept through the five contested matches with straight set wins from Hinkle and Marissa Scobee (Alliance).

Mount Union is next scheduled to host Westminster (Pa.) March 23 at 4 p.m. in Alliance.
