ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's volleyball team stayed perfect in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League action with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, and 25-13) win over Baldwin Wallace Saturday at the McPhearson Academic and Athletic Complex.
The Purple Raiders have now won five-straight conference games and are 8-10 overall and 5-0 in MCVL matches.
Sam Matonis (Macedonia / Walsh Jesuit) led Mount Union in kills with 11 while Luke Trezeciak (Cranberry, Pa. / Seneca Valley) had nine and Jacob Nussdofer (Lewis Center / Olentangy) had seven.
Will Henney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) and
Jeremy Leyden (Cuyahoga Falls / Archbishop Hoban) had 24 and 14 assists respectively to pace the offense.
Defensively,
Andrew Cross (St. Louis, Mo. / St. Louis University High) had 4.0 blocks while
Steven Grenier (Hawthorn Woods, Ill. / Lake Zurich) chipped in nine digs and Leyden had seven.
Michael Beard and Carson Junker had seven kills for Baldwin Wallace (7-15, 2-3 MCVL).
Mount Union plays at Penn State Behrend Wednesday, March 22 at 7 p.m. in Erie, Pa. and then hosts Fontbonne (Mo.) who is also undefeated in the MCVL at home Friday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m.
