ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's baseball team lost a non-conference matchup to Wooster 10-8 in 10 innings on Thursday evening.
The Fighting Scots (22-9) struck first in the top of the first inning when Eli Westrick hit an RBI double that scored Ben Hines. The Purple Raiders (17-14) would answer with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning when senior

Wooster would reclaim the lead in the bottom of the second when Tyler Chumita hit a sacrifice fly that scored Ben Gbur. Mount Union would tie the game again in the bottom half of the inning when sophomore
Andrew Witte (Mentor) scored after Marlowe grounded into a double play. The Raiders would take their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning when sophomore
Andrew Mekeal (Cuyahoga Fall / Woodridge) hit an RBI single that scored junior

The Scots would retake the lead with two runs in the top of the fifth, the first came off an RBI double from Hines and then Westrick brought Hines home with an RBI single. Mount Union would answer with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the fifth inning, the first coming after Witte stole home. Then, senior
Thomas Gallant (Pataskala / Watkins Memorial) hit an RBI single that scored Marlowe to give the Raiders a 5-4 lead.
The Raiders would add to their lead in the sixth inning, scoring three runs. The first came off an RBI single from Witte, the next two came off a two RBI single from Marlowe that brought home Witte and Mekeal to give Mount Union an 8-4 lead.
Wooster would cut into the lead in the top of the seventh inning when Chumita hit an RBI that scored Dominic Stilliana. The Scots would then tie the game at eight in the top of the ninth when Westrick hit a three RBI double to right field that scored Michael Thomas, Chumita and Hines.
Wooster would reclaim the lead in the tenth inning when Thomas hit a triple that brought home Dean Brown and Leo Widtmann, giving the Scots a 10-8 victory in 10 innings.
Freshman
Chris Phillips (Elyria / Elyria Catholic) got the start on the hill for Mount Union and gave up four runs on seven hits, while striking out four in six innings. Senior
Ryan Osman (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon) came in to pitch two innings of relief giving up one run on one hit. Senior
Cole Robinson (Lewis Center / Olentangy) gave up five runs on three hits and recorded a strike out in one inning of relief. Freshman
Aaron Urban (Oberlin / Firelands) came in to pitch the final inning for the Raiders and gave up zero runs on zero hits and struck out one.
The Raiders return to action on Saturday, April 30 taking on Capital in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader, with game one beginning at 1 p.m. and game two following at 4 p.m. at Rafeld-Rogers Field in Alliance.
