Kesler's Career Day Leads Raiders To OAC Semifinals

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's lacrosse defeated Ohio Northern 19-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Mount Union Stadium.

Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) scored a career-high six goals and tied her career-high in points adding an assist for the Purple Raiders (12-4) while Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) tied a game-high seven points with four goals and three assists.

Julia Bates (East Lyme, Conn.) finished with three goals with Sydney Bumbarger (Newbury Park, Calif.) scoring two.

Emily Nannarone (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls), Madeline McCrackin (Kings Mills / Kings), Sam Karr (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter) and Ashley Carr (Livonia, N.Y.) each scored one goal.

Molly McGinnis (Brunswick) played all 60 minutes in goal making five saves.

Ohio Northern (7-10) was led by Avary Snyder and Meredith Miller with two goals.

Nannarone got Mount Union on the board first scoring 3:01 into the first quarter. Ohio Northern responded with two goals to take a short lead as the Raiders responded with a goal 47 seconds later from Bumbarger. Mount Union finished the quarter on a 3-1 run with a goal from Kelser, Karr and Clark.

The Raiders outscored Ohio Northern 5-1 with three goals coming from Kesler and a goal from Clark and Bates to take a 10-4 lead into the halftime break.

Ohio Northern got the first goal in the third quarter but Mount Union went on a 7-1 run with two goals from Bates, Clark and Kesler and a goal from Carr to end the quarter up 17-6.

Mount Union scored two goals in the final period with a goal from Bumbarger and McCrackin.

Mount Union now travels to University Heights to take on John Carroll on Wednesday, May 4 at 4 p.m. in the OAC Semifinals.
