BEREA, Ohio – Senior
Brit McCauley (Ontario) broke a school record while eight Purple Raiders posted a top 22 mark in NCAA Division III Friday afternoon at the Harrison Dillard Twilight hosted by Baldwin Wallace.
McCauley ran a 4:33.60 in the 1,500-Meters besting her own school record set last year. This time currently puts her 18th in Division III. Junior
Megan Wertz (Canton / GlenOak) was just behind in a time of 4:35.03 which sits in 22th place.
Senior
Kennady Gibbins (Navarre / Fairless) jumped up the standings in the high jump with a leap of 5-feet 7-inches putting her in a tie for fifth in the nation.
Senior
Elijah Cobb (Mansfield / St. Peter's) followed Gibbins lead and made a big improvement in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet 8.75-inches good for a tie of seventh in the nation.
The women's 4x100-meter relay put down the eighth fastest time in Division III with a 47.17. Senior
Cortni Arp (Copley), junior
Kenadee Wayt (Wheeling, W. Va. / Wheeling Central) and sophomores
Madison Miles (Padua / Padua Franciscan) and
Lauren Roncone (North Canton / Hoover) put together the run.
Wayt came back winning the 200-meters dropping a 24.49 good for eighth in the nation. Miles also put together a top 20 time running 24.71 good for a tie of 20th in the nation.
Freshman
Drake Willenborg (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon East) improved his distance in the discus with a throw of 164-feet 3-inches which puts him 13th in Division III.
Arp came back to win the 400-meters (57.73) leading freshman
Mary Mason (Alliance / Marlington) (57.75) and junior
Micah Donley (Carrollton) (58.37) to a second and third place finish.
Junior
Brody Coleman (Knox, Pa. / Keystone) won the triple jump with a leap of 46-feet 1.25-inches.
The top 22 women, 20 men and 16 relays will advance to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Mount Union and the Cleveland Sports Commission at Spire Institute on May 26-28.
Mount Union will host a final last chance meet next Thursday, May 19th being the last day for athletes to compete and try for those top marks.
