GENEVA, Ohio—
Lauren Roncone (North Canton / Hoover) earned All-American honors with a sixth-place finish in the long jump along with
Brit McCauley breaking her school record in the 1,500-Meters for the Mount Union women's track and field team Thursday at the NCAA Division III Championships at Spire Institute.
Roncone's first jump of 18-feet 9-inches on the day earned her the All-American status. This is Roncone's second outdoor All-American honor as she earned sixth in the 4x100-meter relay last year.
McCauley qualified to the finals in the 1,500-Meters in the process breaking her school record running a 4:31.65.
Kennady Gibbins (Navarre / Fairless) sits in first in the heptathlon after day one of completion. She finished first in the high jump, shot put and 200-Meters while getting fourth in the 100-Meter hurdles to take a lead of 190 points into day two.
The quartet of
Cortni Arp (Copley),
Kenadee Wayt (Wheeling, W. Va. / Wheeling Central),
Mary Mason (Alliance / Marlington) and
Madison Miles (Padua / Padua Franciscan) qualified to the finals Saturday with a fourth-place finish in a time of 3:47.49.
The men's quartet of
Jared Storm (Barberton),
Tyler Gill (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds),
Justin Knoch (Canton / GlenOak) and Matthew McBride (Conneaut) ran the top qualifier time in 3:12.29 to advance to Saturday's finals.
Wayt, Arp, Roncone, and Miles finished 11th in the 4x100-Meter relay.
Gibbins also competed in the long jump and finished 14th with a jump of 18-feet 1.5-inches.
Racing on Thursday for the Raiders was
Michaelina Terranova (North Jackson / Jackson-Milton) grabbing 10th in the 400-Meter hurdles,
Sidney Rambo (Columbiana / Columbiana Crestview) finished 11th in the discus, Wayt grabbing 19th in the 200-Meters and
Megan Wertz (Canton / GlenOak) in the 1,500-Meters finishing 21st.
Mount Union will have Gibbins in the pentathlon and high jump, Wayt in the 100-Meters, Miles, McBride and Storm in the 400-Meters and the men's high jump trio of
Tanner Slack (New Concord / John Glenn),
Evan Hershberger (Dalton) and
Elijah Cobb (Mansfield / St. Peter's) competing on Friday afternoon.
