Nathan LaRiccia has been named the Director of Athletic Communications at the University of Mount Union.

LaRiccia spent the last 10 years at Westminster College (Pa.) as the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations for 22 varsity teams.

He served an integral part with several significant initiatives in the Sports Information department during his time, including live streaming, the Athletics website, and social media. LaRiccia has helped Westminster garner national attention, including nominating for the school's first and only Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd and played a key role in a SportsCenter Top 10 appearance.

"After an extensive search we are very excited and pleased to have Nathan join the Mount Union family," commented interim athletic director Mike Parnell. He brings an abundance of valuable experience, knowledge, and energy to the athletic department.

"Thank you to Director of Athletics Mike Parnell, Vice President for Business Affairs Pat Heddleston, President Dr. Robert Gervasi, and the search committee for entrusting me with this vital position at one of the top athletic programs in the nation," LaRiccia said.

LaRiccia will begin his duties as the Director of Athletic Communications on August 8 for the school.

"Thank you to my family for their love and prayers, especially my beautiful wife, Lauren, for her support and my parents for always encouraging me to follow my dreams. Thank you to my Westminster family who I was with for over a decade – the future is bright with the leadership in place. My career started at Mount Union 14 years ago, volunteering under CoSIDA Hall of Famer and former Sports Information Director/Assistant Athletic Director Lenny Reich – who has played a huge role over the course of my professional career. I'm excited to join the Purple Raider nation, including showcasing the student-athlete's successes, on and off the playing surface, and keeping the rich history and tradition alive."

LaRiccia also worked previously at Adrian College in Michigan, where he served as the assistant sports information director with primary responsibility for 11 varsity sports. Before joining Adrian, he served as a sports information graduate assistant at Heidelberg University and also worked in the sports information office at the University of Mount Union.

LaRiccia, an Austintown, Ohio, native, earned his bachelor's degree in communication studies from Kent State University and his master's degree from Heidelberg University.

LaRiccia, who is actively involved with College Sports Information Directors of America, has additional sports professional experiences with the United States Olympic Committee, Pro Football Hall of Fame, the United States Golf Association, numerous NCAA Division I Championships, and the Cleveland Browns.
