HIRAM, Ohio—The Mount Union women's volleyball team came from behind to win in a five-set match over Hiram College Wednesday night.
The Purple Raiders (10-3) grabbed the win the hard way over Hiram (9-4) as they dropped the first two sets 25-21 and 36-34, but rallied to win the final three sets 25-16, 25-20 and 15-6.
Mount Union was led by senior
Isabella Sprunger (North Royalton) who had a career-high 15 kills on just 27 attempts. Sophomores
Darby Leininger (Chardon / Beaumont) and
Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy) also had double-digit kills with 13 and 12 in the game.
Senior setters
Mollie Thomas (Massillon / Massillon Perry) and
Katie May (Brecksville / Independence) had 24 and 20 assists receptively.
Bartell along with senior libero
Alyssa Kasaris (North Royalton) both had 22 digs on the day while Thomas picked up double digits with 10 digs.
The Raiders now turn their attention to this weekend where they will take on Wittenberg who is ranked No. 8 in the country on Friday September 23rd in Springfield, Ohio.
