ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union's women's volleyball team fell to Carnegie Mellon in straight sets 26-24, 26-24 and 25-22 at the Mount Union Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Maria Ellesin (Alliance / Marlington) leads the Purple Raiders (2-1) in kills with 10 while sophomores
Alexis Meyer (Avon Lake) and
Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy) finished with nine and eight respectively.
Senior setters
Mollie Thomas (Massillon / Massillon Perry) and
Katie May (Brecksville / Independence) both had double digit assists with 24 and 14.
Meyer finished the day on the net with nine total blocks while senior
Isabella Sprunger (North Royalton) had five.
Senior libero
Alyssa Kasaris (North Royalton) was named to the all-tournament team while picking up 23 digs in the game. Bartell along with
Katelyn Lesko (Mineral Ridge) finished with 13 and 10 digs as well.
Carnegie Mellon (2-1) was led by Elizabeth Schlemmer who had 17 kills and Stella Yan with 35 assists.
Mount Union heads on the road Wednesday to Cleveland to take on Case Western Reserve at 7 p.m.
