ALLIANCE, Ohio – The No. 2 nationally-ranked Mount Union football team will host Alfred State in the 2023 NCAA Division III First Round on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 12 PM at Kehres Stadium.
The Purple Raiders are 10-0 overall, securing their 32nd undefeated regular season, and won their 34th Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) title to claim the league's NCAA automatic qualifying bid. Mount Union has a 111-20 (.847) record all time in NCAA Playoff games, advancing to the Stagg Bowl 22 times since 1993 with a record 13 National Championships. Mount Union has now made the tournament a record 34 times.
Alfred State, located in Alfred, N.Y., is 6-4 overall and won the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) for the automatic NCAA bid. The Pioneers are making their first trip to the NCAA Playoffs in program history.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
The winner of Saturday's game will take on the winner of the matchup between #13 Alma and DePauw on Saturday, Nov. 25 at a location to be announced.
The game will be broadcast live online and on the radio on 1310 AM WDPN and WRMU 91.1 FM.
